Deacon Emede was born and raised in Alice, TX. He grew up in Our Lady of Guadalupe. Deacon Emede's journey to the Permanent Diaconate began when he was invited to assist with Prison Ministry. Ministering to the imprisoned and bringing them the Good News impacted him and it wasn't long before he was invited to discern a vocation to the Diaconate. Although he was first doubtful, Fr. Libby assured Deacon Emede that if God wants him as a Deacon, he will make it clear. Deacon Emede was ordained on November 11, 2012.
Today, Deacon Emede is still actively involved with the Prison Ministry, celebrating Word & Communion Services and preaching the Gospel to the inmates. He has witnessed how the Gospel has the power to change people but it has to be heard; through his service, he has been able to reach many young men. Deacon Emede is grateful to his wife of 37 years and their five children, who have kept him on track. Of his spiritual life, he says that he gives thanks to God for the ability to love, the ability to seek Him and the ability to know Him better every day.
